For someone whose father was one of the world’s greatest guitarists, Wolfgang van Halen sure loves drums. “I started playing drums,” says Mammoth WVH Lynchpin, who sang and played all instruments on his star band’s debut album. “So I laser focus on the drums when I’m listening to music.”

He’s also put some serious thought into his list of 10 life-altering albums, which veer toward the prog-metal portion of the music spectrum although he’s still managed to find space for a few cool rock classics — plus an unexpected couple Van Halen LP.

“This is not in any particular order,” he says, staring at the list in front of him.
